This 2026 concept draws its visual language from the Longmen Grottoes (龙门石窟) at Luoyang: steep limestone cliffs, carved niches, monumental cave interiors and the river landscape between the East and West Hills. The pandal is an artistic interpretation — not a replica — transforming those stone-carved forms into a Bengali Durga Puja experience.
Layered stone surfaces and carved niches echo the dramatic limestone cliff faces associated with Longmen.
A dark reflective water plane references the Yi River flowing between the East and West Hills of Longmen.
A monumental cave-like chamber creates the final transition from heritage-inspired architecture to Maa Durga.
The entrance is an interpretive Chinese gateway leading into a stone-carved world. Red lanterns provide the first warm accent before the palette gradually shifts toward limestone, bronze and amber.
The central environment is built around Longmen's defining relationship between cliff, cave and river. Pagoda silhouettes and a restrained dragon animation add theatrical movement without turning the pandal into a generic China theme.
Longmen is famous for monumental Buddhist stone carving, including the grand sculptural group in Fengxian Temple. This pandal borrows the scale, carved-stone drama and cave illumination of that environment while keeping Maa Durga as the sole devotional centre.
